We talk a lot about the Lord around here. One of my favorite parenting verses is Deut. 6:5-7
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
In other words live in it, let it be the very fabric that weaves your life together. That is why I am here EVERY DAY with them, striving to live this verse out. But as a parent no matter how much you teach your child about the Lord you always wonder how much of it is really becoming their own, at least I do. This week I was so blessed when Caleb came to show me his latest Lego project. He had made Jesus on the Cross! It was neat to see him thinking about that on his own and using his creativity to express it. A few minutes later I was at the table working on school with Mazie Grace when I hear a “trumpet sound” from Caleb and see a little Lego man standing before us on the table. Then Caleb pops up from under the table with an empty cross and shouts, he has risen! We all laughed and rejoiced together! So good to see it coming out of his own heart like that, thank you Lord! What a gift.
