A Vintage Inspired Butterfly Party

I had such a fun time making all these little goodies for my Mazie’s 4th birthday celebration.  Of course I have to share them!  What can I say, blogging is a little addicting!  We don’t do large parties in our family, we keep things simple with a small family get together since we have little ones and four of them.  So I try to make it special with a theme, cake, and little goodies here and there.  We do EVERYTHING on a budget so I am always trying to make the most out the little we spend.  Below are what we made and a few how to’s to make your own.  Oh, and you can see some really cute pictures of my birthday girl in her post right over here.

These cupcake liner butterfly straws were a cute accent to our vintage theme. They only cost 1$ for the liners because I already had straws and pipe cleaners on hand. But even if you had to buy those things, it is still a super inexpensive project, and they are really cute! Directions on how to are below!

I made this little happy birthday sign for our door out of scrap cardboard and some left over letters I had lying around. Cost = nothing! I added the butterflies I purchased from the dollar section at Michael’s so $2 total.
I decorated our topiary tree on the island with pink sparkly leaves and white glitter butterflies. I got everything for the tree in the Christmas clearance for 90% off! This is a great tip, so much that is “christmas” doesn’t look like Christmas, so if you get creative you can score some great deals for projects throughout the year.
At the last-minute I decided to throw these party favors together for the cousins. These are SO easy. Just fill a snack size bag with treats pinch it in the middle with a clothespins and add eyes, smile, and antenna.
The girls loved making these. These are a great idea for party favors too. What I like is that you can make a lot of them for really cheap because they are made from stickers. I got mine on clearance for $3 and there were a lot of them on the sheet. The possibilities are endless!

This cake was fun and easy to make. My kids love theme cakes, but I don’t love having to buy special pans and supplies to make them. That is why I love this cake because it is just a regular old round cake transformed! I made it all from scratch from things I already had, so really it cost me nothing! The only thing I did purchase were the blue sprinkles and I used a 50% off coupon so just $2.50! See how to make your own below!

I decorated with simple bows and butterflies hanging from our chandelier.
